DESCRIPTION

Category: Evangelism & Church Planting
Job Title: Church Planter
Region: South Pacific
Country: Papua New Guinea
Location: Kuman people
Purpose: The goal of a church planting team is to present a clear understanding of the message of the Bible in order to see New Testament churches established and brought to spiritual maturity through continued teaching and discipleship.
Responsibilities: The focus of the church planting ministry is Bible translation, Bible teaching and literacy. Other aspects of the ministry could include medical assistance and other physical helps depending on location and availability of services.

Our church planting teams start with study of the national trade language and PNG culture. Then the team moves into a tribal location. While living among these people and building relationships with them, the team studies their tribal culture and language.

Upon reaching proficiency in culture and language the church planter writes Bible lessons and translates the New Testament into the tribal language. This is followed by systematically teaching Bible lessons in order to build an understanding of God's Word. The team also teaches literacy if there is a high rate of illiteracy. The ongoing work of the church planter is to see new believers discipled and develop tribal church leadership.
